NETdefence Privacy Statement

NETdefence respects your privacy and is committed to protect the personal data that you share with us. We fully comply with the obligations and requirements of the Hong Kong SAR Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance 1995 - Cap.486 (hereafter we refer it as the Ordinance). Our staff will, at all times, respect the confidentiality of and endeavor to keep safe any personal data we collected so as to comply with the Ordinance.

This Privacy Statement describes what information we would collect from you and how we would use your information. This statement applies to all NETdefence owned websites with domain of netdefence.com. At our websites, there are a number of hyperlinks to websites of other companies such as our business partners. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those websites and we encourage you to read their privacy statements when you access their websites.

Collection and Use of Personal Data

In general, you can browse through our websites without giving us any personal data about yourself. Personal data may be collected from you on a voluntary basis for the purpose of providing specific services or information to you, where failure in obtaining the requested data may prevent us from processing your request. We will not collect any personal data from you under this circumstance.

We will not send you promotional materials on our products/services or security knowledge updates unless you are our customer, or you request or agree to receive the prescribed information from us. We keep all personal data confidential and do not share any personal data with other companies or organizations without your prior consent. Where such disclosure is necessary to satisfy the original or directly related purpose for which the data was collected, we may provide such data to the following parties:

Any person or company who is acting for or on behalf of us, or jointly with us, with respect to the purpose for which the data was provided;
Any person or company who has a legitimate right under the Ordinance to gain access to the information provided they are able to prove their authority on accessing such information. An example is a person with related and applicable court order.

Personal data are secured on our computer system and/or storage media with restricted access by authorized personnel only, where authorizations are granted on a need-to-know basis. Practical controls are applied to personal data in order to ensure access is legitimate and in compliance with the Ordinance

Retention of Personal Data

Personal data will be retained for as long as is necessary for the fulfillment of the purposes stated in this Privacy Statement

Access and Correction of Personal Data

Under the Ordinance, you are entitled to:

Ascertain our policies and practices in relation to personal data;
Check whether we hold any of your personal data and, if so, obtain copies of such data; and
Request us to correct any of your personal data which is inaccurate.
